Falconbridge is located on Route 54, the
access road to Chapel Hill in North Carolina, near Farrington Road. It is a lovely
community surrounded on two sides by the Upper Little Creek Waterfowl
Impoundment which is densely wooded and forever protected from further
development. Less than a mile from Route 40, it is a 20 minute drive
to RDU International Airport and Research Triangle Park. The
Falconbridge Community is in Southwest Durham with the advantage of the
coveted Chapel Hill address. One exit away on Route 40 is the premiere
shopping destination in the Triangle Area, The Streets at Southpoint.
Unique, upscale shopping is afforded by Southern Seasons, Wellspring Market
in Chapel Hill and the Weaver Street and Farmer's Markets in Carrboro. Being at the border of Durham and Chapel Hill we enjoy the many cultural activities that these cities offer, Sarah P. Duke Gardens, the Durham Bulls ball park, The Morehead Planetarium, The Ackland Museum, Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Within our community we have access to a swimming pool and clubhouse which is maintained by the Community Club of Falconbridge. Within a short drive or even walking distance are UNC and Duke health care extensions, Central Dermatology Center and Chapel Hill Urgent Care. |

You may remember that storm Hannah dumped a lot of rain on the area this summer. Damage was done to our one-year old riprap field. Visualize the problem with photos taken by Mary McClure and Dave Suwala on the Landscape Committee's page. We proposed a more permanent "green" solution to this problem which will ease the water down over a grassy overflow field. This type of overflow has been used in other locations with much success. The Falconbridge Homeowners Board signified their approval of this plan.Rosemary Hyde has put together a newsletter describing many exciting Falconbridge activities that you can participate in. There you will read about the Village Fall Fair, Project Compassion, Young Children's Playgroup, Travelling Pubs, Bookmobile(!), Activity Groups, Cultural Events and Fresh Food Delivery. You are are a second away from the most recent issue of the Falconbridge Village News.Cindy Sellars is putting together a weekly play group for Falconbridge school-aged children. Please let Cindy (asellars@gmail.com) know if you or the children's parents would like to participate in this activity with your grandkids. An ideal way to make friends with other kids who live in Falconbridge. |

| The Falconbridge community consists of townhouses which are maintained by the Falconbridge Homeowners Association and single family dwellings which are the purview of The Falconbridge Community Association. The quality of these homes and the environment are the result of the unstinting efforts of the developer, J. P. Goforth. He specified copper plumbing and wiring, roof rafters framed on site and spaced 16 inches (instead of 24 inches) and insulated double-glazed windows. Screws were used in the sheetrock to avoid the tendency of nails to pop up. His efforts also preserved large stands of full-grown trees throughout the neighborhoods. |
